Images from Going Places 1998 calendar

Going Places was the easy listening club that me and the legendary Murray McKean ran in Edinburgh (with the help of Mr Andy Blundel of course.) The flyers were where I really evolved my vector style; this calendar collected the best of them and was the precursor to the Airside calendars. Although the style is now very overused I think a lot of these images still stand up. But what do I know?

What a dude - nice chair also.

Sulky girl - looks somewhat like pictures of my Mum when she was a kid. Complete coincidence muvver!

Very classy chap with a nice glass of red wine. I screenprinted this one in an edition of 15 A0 prints as well as the guy in the chair above - wonder what happened to them all...

More images coming soon - watch this space!

My first flyer

So this is pretty much the first flyer I ever did for a club in Edinburgh me and Simon Kilmurry ran. Also pretty much the first club night I put on! I was so nervous I spent literally all day at the venue rehersing. But it was a smash.

Printed at King's Cross Copyart collective on a colour cartridge photocopier. Type cut out of City Limits magazine letter by letter - sorry Neville!

Impotent Fury Club Flyers

Ah, happy days! Note the first London appearance of The Cuban Brothers on the last flyer.
